GPTC MFA Setup – Georgia Piedmont Technical College

GPTC MFA Setup

What is MFA and Why We Use It at GPTC?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring two or more verification steps to log in. At GPTC, we use MFA to protect sensitive information, ensure compliance with security standards, and safeguard against unauthorized access. By combining something you know (like a password) with something you have (like a smartphone or authentication app), MFA significantly reduces the risk of cyber threats and keeps your data secure.

Okta Verify Setup

GPTC recommends using the Okta Verify app for a quick setup and convenient push notification-based MFA access.

On Your Mobile Device
1.  Download the Okta Verify from app store

2.  Open the Okta Verify app on your mobile device
3. Click “Get Started”
4. Click “Next” on the How it works screen
5.  Click “Add Account”
6.  Choose “Organization: work, school, company”
7.  Choose “Skip” on Add Account from Another Device screen as you are setting up a new device
8. Choose “No, Sign In Instead”
9. Enter login.gptc.edu as the Organization’s Sign-In URL and click next
10. Login with your username and password to complete
11. Click “Allow” to accept push notifications
12. The Face ID or Passcode confirmation is optional

Now that your GPTC account is added to the Okta Verify app, you can authenticate using your password and Okta Verify when accessing GPTC’s App Dashboard or any GPTC application.

If your phone does not support Okta Verify due to latest software versions then you will need to use an authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator for access.
