(DeKalb County, November 1, 2018) – – Two of Georgia Piedmont Technical College’s online programs, which are offered through its School of Business, Computer Information Systems and New Media, have been recognized by Affordable Colleges Online (ACO) as being among the best online programs in the nation.
ACO ranked Georgia Piedmont’s online computer programming curriculum in the Top Five in the nation. According to its website, ACO’s objective is “to help students find the best-fitting program for them.” Financial aid opportunities, student-teacher ratios and program costs are factors that ACO considered in determining its rankings.
Additionally, ACO ranked Georgia Piedmont’s online business management program among the Top 30 in the country. The nature of the coursework, as well as program flexibility, were key criteria ACO used in evaluating the curriculum.
“While I am proud of our faculty, these rankings do not surprise me,” said Susan Wright, dean of the School of Business, Computer Information Systems and New Media. “I believe the BCISNM faculty have discovered the secret combination of factors needed to engage Georgia Piedmont’s on-line learners. The instructors who teach in our virtual classrooms are well- prepared, and they focus on learning. Most of all, they are passionate about student success,” Wright added.
Only accredited, public, not-for-profit institutions with at least one online program were eligible for placement in these rankings. The categories ACO used to identify the best online programs for 2018 include acceptance rates, tuition rates, graduation rates and types of degrees awarded by the colleges.
“In our seventh annual survey of online learning programs across the nation, we honor the colleges and universities that are providing innovative ways for students to complete a degree,” said Dan Schuessler, chief executive officer and founder of AffordableCollegesOnline.org. “These schools are going above and beyond the industry standard to help make online education programs more accessible and more affordable,” Schuessler concluded.
