(DeKalb County, November 19, 2018) – – Kye Haymore, the paralegal studies program director at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, recently relinquished her role as president of the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE). Haymore was nominated for the president-elect post at the association’s 35th annual conference, which was held in the fall of 2016. In October, she became immediate past president. Debra Geiger, paralegal studies department head at Savannah Technical College, is president-elect of the association.
“I recently ended my tenure as president of the American Association for Paralegal Education,” Haymore said. “I am proud of the direction the Board of Directors has taken this year, and we have forged new paths while honoring and bolstering AAfPE’s foundation. My dedication to AAfPE’s mission is not ending. I’ve enjoyed learning about the history of this association, as well as contributing to its future,” she added. “AAfPE has helped me become a better educator. I remain committed to serving our great organization as immediate past president and then in whatever capacity the future holds,” she stated.
Haymore was instrumental in developing Georgia Piedmont’s paralegal studies curriculum so it would garner approval from the American Bar Association (ABA). She also assisted in writing state standards for courses offered through the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), the governing agency that oversees operations of 22 public technical colleges located throughout Georgia.
“I am so proud of Debra Geiger at Savannah Tech for being named president-elect,” Haymore said. “Debra is a passionate voice for our organization and I look forward to working with her over the next year. I am especially excited because I introduced her to the organization, and I encouraged her to get involved. The fact that we are both employed by the Technical College System of Georgia is just icing on the cake,” she concluded.
A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Haymore is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Georgia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. She graduated from the University of Georgia’s School of Law in 1995.
AAfPE is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to promoting quality paralegal education. The AAfPE promotes quality paralegal education, develops educational standards and encourages professional growth.
