About Federal Work Study
The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides job opportunities for eligible students enrolled in the Diploma or Associate Degree programs. Position opportunities are available in various offices and departments of Georgia Piedmont Technical College and other off campus community service positions.
To participate in the program a student must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Enrolled in a Diploma or Associate degree program
- Enrolled a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
- Maintain financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Must have financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- Have a completed financial aid file with no outstanding requirements
- Not have defaulted on or owe a repayment to any federal aid program received for study at another institution
How much will I Make?
Wages: $13 to $15 per hour (based on position)
Hours per week:
- Up to 19.50 per week during the semester. Student may not work during scheduled class periods.
- Up to 30 hours per week between semesters with prior approval
Getting Started
Step 1: The Financial Aid Office will offer a FWS award in Banner Web with an application linked
Step 2: Complete FWS application and upload Resume*
Step 3: GPTC Human Resources (HR) will contact the student for an interview
Step 4: Selected applicants will complete the HR hiring packet
Step 5: Student is placed with an assigned department
