Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) have announced a new partnership and articulation agreement that provides direct transfer opportunities between the two institutions, in the spirit of academic cooperation.
Under the agreement, students from Georgia Piedmont Tech will be able to transfer up to 90 credits and complete their bachelor’s degrees online with SNHU. The goal of the partnership is to make smoother transitions for students from associate of applied science degrees (AAS) in five areas of study at GPTC to bachelor of arts (BA) and bachelor of science (BS) degrees in business, general studies and health sciences at SNHU.
The five programs in the partnership include:
• AAS in Accounting to BS in Accounting
• AAS in Clinical Laboratory Technology to BS in Health Sciences
• AAS in Interdisciplinary Studies to BA in General Studies
• AAS in Health Information Management Technology to BS in Health Information Management
• AAS in Marketing to BS in Business Administration
“The core of our mission is workforce development. We produce graduates who are work-ready for rewarding careers. It’s also critical that we assist students in maintaining relevant skills as they experience success on the job and advance in their chosen professions,” said GPTC President Tavarez Holston. “Therefore, we collaborate with universities like SNHU to create multiple pathways for students to continue their education beyond Georgia Piedmont Tech.”
As SNHU is a regionally-accredited institution via the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, all academic coursework in which students earn a grade of “C-“ or higher is fully transferable based on course equivalents.
Included in the agreement, eligible GPTC graduates, employees and immediate family members of employees (spouse, domestic partners, children, siblings and parents) will receive a ten percent (10%) tuition reduction for SNHU’s online programs. Additionally, the agreement allows for a waiver of the application fee to SNHU. Programs offered at military tuition assistance levels are not subject to the reduction.
“At SNHU, we partner with a number of community colleges across the country to help students continue their education, and we’re proud to be teaming up with Georgia Piedmont Technical College,” said Greg Fowler, president of Global Campus, SNHU. “Through this new partnership, thousands of learners will have the opportunity to seamlessly transfer their credits to SNHU and continue on their educational journey.”
