CLARKSTON, Ga. –

Through the generosity of donors and partners of the college, the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Foundation was able to award 28 students a total of $31,750 in financial assistance for the Fall 2024 term. Awards range from $400 – $1,050 and go a long way in helping GPTC students overcome financial obstacles that may be blocking their path from finishing school. Officials with the GPTC Foundation say there are still 22 more total scholarships to award for this semester.

As part of their application process, awardees are encouraged to write a thank-you note to the donor or organization that provided their scholarship(s).

In his letter thanking donors of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), computer support specialist student Pierre Luckner Rene wrote, “Your support has significantly alleviated my financial burden and allowed me to focus more intensely on my studies and career aspirations.” Fellow AABE scholar, accounting student Milan Dixon, said “this scholarship will be instrumental in helping me achieve my goal of working in the energy sector – a crucial industry that drives the global economy.”

Corporate Environmental Risk Management (CERM) Reese-Walker STEM scholarship winner Kenan Spears said the extra money is going toward his accounting degree where he hopes “to become a senior account manager and help a company with their finances.”

In her letter to the Georgia United Credit Union scholarship providers, business management degree student Aaliyah Crawford said the generosity means she can ‘pay it forward’ one day. “Your generosity has lightened my financial burden, allowing me to focus on excelling in my studies and contributing to the business community in the future.”

Winner of the GPTC Achievement Scholarship, carpentry student Dominick Albert said, “thank you for your support and belief in my potential…this scholarship motivates me to strive for excellence in all my endeavors.”

Accounting student Gabrielle Jones is one of the many recipients of the PepsiCo Foundation’s Uplift Scholarship. This single mom wrote a heartfelt letter to the donors, calling the extra funds “a profound source of encouragement and relief.” She went on to write, “Knowing that an esteemed organization like the PepsiCo Foundation believes in my potential and is willing to invest in my future is both inspiring and motivating. It reassures me that my hard work is recognized and valued, and it fuels my commitment to excel academically while being a supportive parent.”

The PepsiCo Uplift Scholarship Grant comes in two parts for eligible students; if they continue to qualify, these students will receive an additional $1,050 for the Spring 2025 semester.

Congratulations to ALL our scholarship winners!
