Learn with the Latest Technology

Starting in 2017, Georgia Piedmont Tech began building on its strong legacy skills training in electrical, mechanical and automation and control systems to offer education and training in the college’s new advanced manufacturing center. In addition to a computer lab and general classrooms, the center features four laboratories equipped with the latest technology:

  • Electricity/Electronics & Wiring Lab
  • Mechanical & Fluid Power Lab
  • Motor Control, PLC & Drives Lab
  • Machine Tools​

Georgia Piedmont Tech has adopted an advanced manufacturing curriculum that incorporates insights provided by global manufacturers who are using networked systems and robotics to drive their businesses forward. Students also receive industry-certified safety training, as well as instruction in soft skills to assure that they are ready to contribute to a company from the very first moment they step on the job.

Graduates from this program can receive a variety of credentials, including continuing education certificates, technical certificates of credit, diplomas, and associate degrees.

High School Apprenticeship Program

Georgia Piedmont Tech’s apprenticeship programs are being developed in partnership with Chambers of Commerce in Newton and Rockdale Counties, the Newton College & Career Academy, the Rockdale Career Academy, and local industry representatives. They are based on providing classroom instruction and fully-engaged apprenticeship experiences for students starting in the first years of high school. Signature features of our programs include:

  • Advanced manufacturing focus
  • Students attend class part of the day and then work the other part
  • Paid hourly competitive apprenticeship with local manufacturers
  • Students earn two technical certificates of credit and a high school diploma at the end of 12th grade
  • Students can continue in college and earn an associate degree and apprenticeship certificate

GPTC Metro Corporate College’s Rockwell Automation Training

Find out more about our in-person Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley training offered onsite at GPTC’s Metropolitan Corporate College Advanced Manufacturing Center in Covington, Georgia. Training is offered in an eight-week progressive format so the participant can incrementally obtain desired expertise levels. Or the training areas can be selected based on individual experience levels. In this way, the training program provides full training flexibility ranging from the duties of the industrial maintenance mechanic to design considerations for the manufacturing engineer. These range from basic mechanical fasteners to the more advanced automation methods including programmable logic controllers.

Weekly 40-hour sessions are available as a series of multiple courses, or some courses may be taken separately in shorter 8-hour segments. Visit our Rockwell Automation Training page for a list of upcoming courses and their descriptions.
